Alice Purton is a London-based cellist and vocalist, who works as a chamber musician, contemporary music performer and improviser.

She is a founder member of Distractfold, a Manchester-based ensemble specialising in instrumental, acousmatic, and hybrid music of the 21st century. Recent performances include the Kalv Festival, Sweden; Bludenzer Tage, Austria; the Spanish Academy, Rome; No Hay Banda, Montréal; Rainy Days Festival, Luxembourg. Distractfold has given workshops and held residencies at Harvard University, Stanford University, McGill University, DePaul University and Huddersfield University.

Alice is also a member of Plus Minus Ensemble, the Chagall Piano Quartet and Trio Atem.

Alice records regularly for sessions at studios including Abbey Road, Maida Vale, Air Lyndhurst and Air-Edel. She has broadcast on BBC Radios 1, 2, 3 and 6, and has been heard playing solo cello lines on major adverts and television programmes.
